Operations

The Midland County Food Assistance Network (MCFAN) operates on the basis of referral. Various churches and organizations refer clients to our Network Coordinator. The Coordinator interviews all referrals by phone, keeps records, confers with other agencies as necessary, and arranges with the pantries for food pickup by the clients. The operating budget of MCFAN covers the salary of the Coordinator as well as her substitute and a part-time manager. These are the only paid positions of MCFAN. Besides salaries, there is money in the operating budget to cover postage and other office expenses. The budget also includes money for grants to affiliated agencies such as the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and the Voluntary Action Center for the Sharing Tree program. Approximately $45,000 is needed for the annual operating budget of MCFAN.
